Beware that any side wall venting with a wood stove may not draft well causing smoking in home, slow start up, no start up draft without a hair dryer to warm flue, difficult & expensive chimney cleaning. On multiple story homes this problem is more likely where the vent exits the building on the lower floors. For more information on chimney draft scenarios and dynamics, click here.
Chimney Installation Specifications and Tips:
This chimney pipe is 11 inch outside diameter and requires 2 inch of clearance to any combustible materials. It must rise thru the roof to a height that is 2 feet taller than the nearest surface within 10 feet horizontally, which is usually the ridge. The chimney is also required to extend at least 3 feet from the roofline. If the chimney extends over 4 feet from the roof surface then support bars are required to stabilize it. Half inch thin walled conduit from a electrical or hardware store is often used. The Tee system chimney passes thru a thimble that is 14" round and attaches to the wall. The chimney connected to a Tee Chimney section that is supported by a bracket with access for a clean out plate. The pipe passes up the outside wall with support from a wall bracket at least every 4' or by thru passing thru the flashing in the roof's overhanging eave. Single wall stovepipe requires 18" clearance to combustibles and double wall pipe or single wall with pipe shields, require 6" clearance.
Shipping terms- We find that the 8 inch chimney pipe gets too easily dinged up when we ship with UPS so we put the system on a pallet and ship with a freight company in a tractor trailer. To do this we need to deliver to a business address with a loading dock or forklift or the nearest shipping terminal. Many customers just ask a local lumberyard to let them have it dropped off there or any business where they can receive a big truck like that. So, include a business address for the shipping address if possible. If you do not supply a business address with loading dock and forklift we will ship this pallet of products to the nearest shipping termincal and send you their phone number, location and pro# for shipment so you can follow progress and pick up there.
Make sure your phone number is listed with your order so we can contact you regarding shipping arrangements and the delivery truck can reach you to confirm details and timing if needed.
Here are the specific details that are needed to determine just what pipe to use to build your complete system. If you need help figuring out exactly what you need to purchase we will be glad to review your order before shipping and can refund or charge additional as needed to change the order before it ships out.
