Pellet Stoves

In today’s economy, with rising natural gas and propane prices, many people are turning to pellet stoves to supplement their home heating or even use as their primary heat source. They can make a big difference in reducing your home heating costs. Pellet stoves can be used to "zone heat" just the area where you spend most of your time so you can lower the thermostat in the rest of your house, saving you money. Pellet stoves look very much like wood stoves but they are actually very advanced burning systems designed to burn wood pellets much cleanly and efficiently than wood stoves burn firewood. They have flames like a wood stove and some even come with a ceramic log set designed to spread the flame and give the look of a traditional fire.

Pellet stoves simply plug into a typical 110 volt outlet. While they do need electricity to work, some have battery backups available. If you live in an area that experiences frequent power outages, a small gas generator is recommended so you can continue to use your pellet stove and power other appliances such as lights and a refrigerator.

Pellet stoves heat output (or heating capacity) is rated in a BTU range, typically 8,000 to 40,000 BTU's an hour. Sizing a pellet stove to your needs is best done by talking to an experienced dealer who can take all the factors, such as square footage, ceiling height, insulation and home air flow, into consideration to determine the best stove for you.

Pellet stoves are in available in both freestanding and insert versions in a variety of styles to fit your home decor. They can be a great addition to your home, saving you money and providing a safe, efficient and beautiful source of heat to keep you cozy all winter.
