About us

Bruce Beeley founded Wood Heat Systems in Nevada County in 1981 after having been practicing the trade for a few years as a technician. He attended one of the first wood stove manufacturer’s meetings in which eventually led to the Hearth Products Association as a trade organization for the modern wood stove marketplace. Bruce has been actively involved in product design, sales and installation of Wood, Pellet, Gas & Solar products throughout this time as well. He has received certifications from many of the technical trade organizations and got his first California Contractor’s License in 1983 and two more specialty licenses since then. Since that time he has been very active in the industry and helped design some of the original pellet stoves and gas stoves. His approach to customer service has always focused on consumer education, which is reflected in what has become WoodHeatStoves.com.

Bruce has had a strong conviction to environmental preservation since his childhood when his parents introduced him to most of the national parks and outdoor sports from body surfing to rock climbing and everything in between. He was a founding member of the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) which is responsible for stopping unneeded hydroelectric dams and instead worked with state parks and state political bills that created the South Yuba State Park.

This background is also reflected in his commitment to maintaining high efficiency energy saving appliances since he switched from general contracting to alternative energy retail sales and contracting in the mid 1970s.
