This Stove pipe Shield allows you to reduce required single-wall stovepipe clearances from 18" to 6". The stove pipe shield attaches to the pipe with the ceramic spacers and screws provided. In most cases a woodstove is allowed to be placed closer to a combustible wall when double wall interior pipe is used or a pipe shield is attached. Pipe shields are less costly than double wall pipe and allows for some more heat to enter the home from the stove pipe. They also allow the use of adjustable elbows on the single wall stove pipe so that you can avoid the use of 45 degree elbows that are the only elbows available for double wall pipe. Since ease of chimney cleaning and better draft is accomplished by have the most straight vertical venting system available. By using adjustable single wall stovepipe with an elbow at the stovetop and ceiling with adjustment so they aim towards each other, use of a pipe shield will allow for the closer 6" clearances to the walls and create a nearly straight vertical installation. This often eliminates the need to attach a cumbersome shield directly to combustible surfaces nearby. The 24 ga. black Stovepipe Shield is half-round in shape and 35" long. One size fits pipe diameters from 5" - 8". This product is recommended for vertical installations only.
