Wood Heat Stoves & Solar has sold, installed and serviced the stoves and chimneys of Nevada County since 1981 from our showroom on North Bloomfield Road 2.4 miles from the Hwy 49 traffic light. The Fall Home & Harvest Festival will feature thousands of ideas to get your home ready for winter, plus the latest in products & services for your home at discounted home show rates! More than 7,000 people visited the show last year and this year we are expecting our largest show ever, with workshops and demonstrations and activities for the kids that will keep the whole family entertained! Hundreds of vendors will be showcasing products and services for your home. FREE ADMISSION, a growers market & children's play areas-including a FREE pumpkin patch, a hay maze, Paint-A-Pumpkin, a bounce house, face painting, a scarecrow contest and more! Wonderful local food & beverage choices and drawings & giveaways all weekend long from participating vendors! BACK TO BASICS returns! Featuring workshops and demonstrations on living sustainable & self sufficient. Plus, meet and greet the vendors who will have detailed information on how do-it-yourself. Hands-on demonstrations will include: Beekeeping Canning Weaving Soap making Plus…be a part of creating a handmade quilt with the Pine Tree Quilt Guild- each piece will be individually made by YOU and donated to the 2010 Paint the Town Pink, benefiting local breast cancer research. A complete guide to the event with information on vendors, demonstration schedule and all of the weekends festivities to publish in The Union on Thursday October 14. EntertainmentThe weekend will include plenty of fun activities for the whole family! So, while you are out talking to the pros about your next home renovation or enjoying the many workshops this event has to offer, the little ones can stay entertained all weekend long! For the Kids: FREE Pumpkin patch & Hay Maze sponsored by Ridge Feed & Supply. Follow the hay maze to hundreds of free pumpkins! All small pumpkins are free to the public (1 per child), larger pumpkins are a small fee and all money raised through the pumpkin patch will be donated to the 2010 Paint the Town Pink, benefiting the advancement of local breast cancer care through the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation. Paint your very own pumpkin, sponsored by B&C True Value, for a $1 minimum donation to Paint the Town Pink and get your face painted by Faces and Things, who will also be donating a portion of the proceeds to Paint the Town Pink. So, while you are out exploring everything this home show has to offer, your kids can support a great cause and have a great time without breaking your wallet! Imagine that! The event will also feature a Bounce House, Radical Racers race cars and jump back in time with the historical model railroad of Nevada County's railroad history and ghost tours at the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Historical Railroad exhibit, which will be open to the public for free all weekend long! Design your scarecrow at home and drop off to be displayed at the Home & Harvest Festival on Friday, October 15 from 10am-3pm or during the event on Saturday October 16 from 10-6. Winner will be announced on Sunday, October 17 at 3pm. You can choose to donate your creation to be sold at the Home & Harvest Festival to raise money for the 2010 Paint the Town Pink or bring home to decorate your home for the season after the winner is announced on Sunday.
